N4155N 1947 Cessna 140
N4155N was purchesed in January 1985 for $6,500. On Dec. 7th 1985 55N was involved in an accident in which upon takeoff and after reaching an altitude of approximetly 10 feet, the right side of the cowl became unlatched and "whipped up" into the airstream, blocking the pilots forward view and causing some control problems. The pilot elected to abort the takeoff and ran off the runway durning the landing rollout. The A/C hit a snowbank and flipped over on its back. No one was injured and the plane was fixed and flown again. The club later decided that a tailwheel plane was too much for the club at that time and put it up for sale. Harrison Crabill offered to by the airplane from the club for $8,000 + $40 per month for hanger fees. The club accepted his offer. Harrison later sold the plane to former club member Cary Sloan.
